Monk HM
So I'm going to be starting Tyria VQ and Guardian soon and I was wondering what build works best as a monk in HM. Smiting, healing, protting or something totally different. I'm up for anything.
Currently working on Cantha, but it's easy and short in comparison to Tyria. I wanna be prepared
So If anyone could guide me in the right direction, please
I'll be running Discord or Sabway heros

It really depends on area and your preference. I did my Guardian title by exploiting Triple necros, but still you have to choose 4 henchies. On most areas you can choose pretty decent hench but on the other you must come prepared. Suming up I used everything from healing (LoD, HB..) bars, full prot to fun builds like Ursan or Mo/D with scythe as Triple necros give you comfort with handling almost every type of mob. Preferred henchies: when Im running healing bar I take 1 monk, Eve (BR helps a lot), Cynn and if possible Herta. If running fun build take 2 monks, Eve, Cynn. Have fun.
PS. If youre running Discord-way you bar really doesnt matter but be sure that a least one of the human players has caller build (Assasin Promise, YMLaD!, Finish Him!).

I did all vanquish with my W (ab)using discord spike this is awesome. The hardest and longest part was the 4 man party in ascalon. But then use the ebond sniper + corresponding title against char and you shall be fine

In Prophecies be wary of Hexes and Conditions. There are a lot of them and the only henchman with removal is Dunham with Shatter Hex.
The hardest tyrian zones might be Lornar's pass(you have to get there by way of rankor or the deldrimore camp or you have to 6 man it, and there's an annoying summit mob in the middle) and maybe the zone with rotscale in it. Most of the others have been ralative cakewalks with a modified unholy trinity (3 necro) build.

When playing my monk, I like to switch the sabway minion bomber from protection to healing and give him the [[spotless mind] and [[spotless soul] and [[dwayna's sorrow]. That provides the party-wide healing and hex/condition removal, leaving me to to do whatever I want (I usually go protection to make up for the lack of aegis and stuffs).

Or you can choose not to abuse both the 3xNecro setup and PvE only skills and actually play monk.

I second this ^
Sure I run Sab and Discord but when I do I do it as a Ranger and/or Nec with full Ranger or Nec bars. Whats the point in being a X class if all you are taking is the same 3 PVE skills, AP elite and nothing else?

1 option all of you overlooked is RoJway. as a Monk you can bring 3 other Monk heroes with you for massive RoJ power. divide the healing/protection/removal spells among all 4 monks and you'll be fine, even in 4 man areas.

I third this. It's final. Monks must Monk. If you want to abuse a mechanic, at least abuse RoJ... it's a Monk skill, you're not being as cheesy.

Be a man, heal NPCs and AI controlled heroes. It is tons of fun watching them do one retarded move after the other (sarc end here). Or, if you don't need to practice monking anymore... just wipe them with AP/PvE. That's the best way to get a skill nerfed anyway: abuse.

depending on what type of monk you want to be or enjoy playing, then choose smite / heal or prot. well... now you have the option of LoD smiting or Mo/P PnH support. In any case, i think you might have to switch it up a lot if you want to lrn2monk. the best builds for vanquishing are right in front of you... HA and GVG. as for team, you should know enough about the game already if you are vanquishing to make a team for the area. if you fail a few times, then switch it up a little in terms of professions or skills you or your heros take.
personally, i have been playing HB Infuse using a PnH Prot Hero (Same as the HA RC build with PnH instead). i find it is a great way to learn how to position and channel tank, conserve energy and also how to 1nf000z.
if you want to be better at the game and the reward of truely earning your title, monk it. if you are doing it cause you want to show off your title then do it the lame way.

I deleted my pve monk awhile ago, but I recall having fun using an AP boon prot type of monk. I think I used Assassin's promise for aegis chains and recharging divine spirit, so I could spam prots while booned like crazy.
I guess it would work pretty well with discord heroes.
